Anthropic selection can give investors a real test of courage. According to the Financial Times, several of the company’s investors expect developer Claude to go public as early as October at a valuation of $2 trillion or more. If the prediction comes true, this IPO will become the largest IPO in history, surpassing SpaceX’s record.
If the forecast comes true, Anthropic will surpass SpaceX’s record of $1.77 trillion. Meanwhile, back in May, developer Claude was valued at $965 billion after completing a $65 billion Series H round of financing. The company has confidentially filed documents for its initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission but has not announced a formal timetable for the listing.
There is only one small detail─profit. At a $2 trillion valuation, Anthropic would have to earn between $59 billion and $79 billion in annual net profits to be in line with the average price-to-earnings ratio of major technology companies. So far, while the business is growing rapidly, it’s still far from reaching the numbers where revenue could hit $10.9 billion in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Wall Street Journal, with the company posting an operating profit for the first time.
Investors appear willing to ignore current forecasts for future growth. Anthropic could have annual revenue of $10-120 billion by the end of 2026, some of them said. If the market agrees to such a bet, the story of the $2 trillion IPO will no longer seem like fiction and will become a new benchmark for the entire field of artificial intelligence.
Do you think this will be a breakthrough in artificial intelligence or the beginning of the end of the bubble?
