LG announced a major strategic partnership with Nvidia focused on industrial automation and advanced robotics. The two companies intend to accelerate the transformation of production and its transfer to artificial intelligence and develop a new generation of bipedal robots on the Nvidia Isaac GR00T platform.

The two technology giants signed a memorandum of understanding at Nvidia headquarters. As part of the agreement, the Korean company will test LG CLOiD wheeled robots on a washing machine production line in Tennessee and establish a production reference site using AI based on Nvidia DSX and Vera Rubin devices; also based on Nvidia technology drive Hyperion will develop an autonomous vehicle platform.
LG is actively developing a new generation of humanoid robots based on Nvidia Isaac GR00T: Nvidia Jetson Thor will be responsible for onboard computing, logical thinking processing and control, and system security will be provided by Nvidia Halos for Robotics. The project involves the integration of equipment under the One LG program: the actuator was developed by LG Electronics, the sensor system was developed by LG Innotek, and the battery was developed by LG Energy Solution. If all goes according to plan, the company will launch its humanoid robot in the first quarter of 2027. In the first half of next year, the company also plans to use the Nvidia DSX AI Factory platform to build a reference AI factory based on Nvidia Vera Rubin devices. The project will assist in the construction of an 80 MW operating plant in Cheonan, South Korea.
The collaborative project will also impact the automotive industry. LG hopes to develop a high-performance computing platform for the next generation of artificial intelligence cars based on Nvidia Drive Hyperion.
