Meanwhile, developers at Insomniac Games have also announced a wide range of post-game features, such as new game add-ons, mission replays, and the tough Nightmare Gate challenges.
Following the huge success of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which allowed players to seamlessly switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, Insomniac Games took a different tack with Marvel’s Wolverine. As confirmed by the development studio, there are no other playable characters in the upcoming action adventure. Instead, the game is 100% focused on Logan’s harsh and uncompromising nature. However, those who have completed the adventure can look forward to exciting post-game content.
While Wolverine remains the only playable hero, fans don’t have to be without the dynamics typical of the famous comic book companion. The studio promises a compelling team-up atmosphere, with the X-Men and other popular characters from the Marvel Universe also appearing in the story to fight alongside Logan. However, the interesting focus is entirely on his claws, his heightened senses, and his unique fighting style.
The X-Men themselves won’t be attending; at the time of the game, Wolverine still has close ties to the X-Team (including Mystique and Sabretooth). So while this is about Wolverine’s origin story, the developers also wanted to show how difficult life is for mutants without a helping group like the X-Men.
Various comfort levels and endgame features ensure long-term motivation after the first playthrough. Through New Game Addition and Mission Replay, players can start the campaign again with all unlocked skills, or access individual sections specifically through the menu. The so-called Nightmare Door also presents a special challenge. These optional gates lead to challenging battle arenas that require full controller skills and provide valuable rewards.
As such, Insomniac Games underlines its commitment to delivering a focused, adult and highly replayable action experience that is fully tailored to the protagonist’s strengths.
