Everstone Studio has announced the second chapter of the Hidden Mountain expansion for Where the Winds Meet, titled Heaven’s Threshold. The update will be released on August 20, 2026, and will bring a new storyline in the alpine region, giant mechanical bosses, dungeons with ever-changing architecture, and multiple new modes.
After the events of Chapter 1, the heroes will leave the mountain city and head to the mist-shrouded Tiankan Peak. New regions will be gradually opened as part of the Cloudtop Ascent event. The area features steep cliffs, alpine trails and ancient observatory ruins. The plot will continue the story of ancient masters creating complex mechanical devices. They are conflicted over whether to continue hiding from the outside world or use their knowledge and skills to help others.
There will be two world bosses in the game: the scorpion Inkpinser and the snake Cloud Invader. Opponents are huge mechanical structures. To win, players must wait for the monster’s armor to expose its fragile joints.
In the “Eternally Changing Labyrinth” dungeon, players will find a multi-level complex with rotating wooden mechanisms and traditional connections. In addition to fighting security structures, you’ll also have to change the position of movable sections of the floor to navigate the maze.
Another story campaign will take players to the abandoned Milkville Valley. The territory is occupied by rebel blacksmiths, and the main companion of the hero will be a boy, with whom he must repair old water wheels and machinery and find out why the industrial settlement disappeared.
In order to coincide with the traditional Chinese festivals, a new single-player mode “Reflection Temple” has been released. Its action takes place in an abandoned mountain sanctuary, where players must follow established rules, find hidden clues and escape the temple. For players who want a change of pace, the developers will add a kite chasing competition. This mode offers individual timed competitions and online competitions. In Pangolin Trader, you’ll be able to establish trade routes between remote villages and earn rare rewards.
“Where Winds Meet” will also be unveiled at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne from August 26th to 30th. Visitors will be able to try out a demo featuring the Hidden Hills storyline finale and play as the Drunken Master for the first time.
