Quarter Up Studio, which publishes the fighting game “Invincible VS”, has made large-scale layoffs: sources revealed that the company’s employees have been reduced by about 75%. About 15 of the studio’s 50 employees have stayed and now serve as a “skeleton team” to support the game and release the first planned expansion pack.
Although the fighting game got off to a strong start in April, with 1 million players upon launch, it quickly lost its audience – concurrent users on Steam fell below 1,000 after just a few weeks.
According to former employees, the reasons for the layoffs were the project’s unconvincing financial performance and a lack of budget, which is why the game’s future remains in doubt after the release of the first DLC.
