Xbox fans post An open letter to Disney and Marvel And a request to focus on the need for classic games and add them to Microsoft’s backward compatibility program. The call was made during the D23 event and is based on statistics from the Xbox Game Saves resource, which was launched earlier this year for voting on new backwards compatible games.
The authors of the portal analyzed all the votes and noted that the Disney project was one of the most popular among players. A separate website has been created parta clear indication of Xbox audiences’ interest in replaying Disney-licensed classics:
- Of the more than 870,000 votes on the resource, approximately 117,000 were related to games based on Disney intellectual property. Of the more than 91,00 unique players who voted, more than 32,000 chose at least one Disney project.
- The demand is greatest among Marvel projects. They collected over 76,000 votes from over 22,000 players. Most importantly, players want to return to projects in the Spider-Man, X-Men, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Pixar and Star Wars franchises.
- The most popular project was The Simpsons: Hit and Run, with over 12,000 votes. There have been recent rumors that the game could be part of a backwards compatibility plan.
- After The Simpsons: Hit and Run, the most popular projects are Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension, Deadpool, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, The Simpsons Game, Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The author of the open letter emphasizes that statistics show that the Disney catalog is very interested in the return of the modern Xbox. At the same time, there are more than 100 games from Disney on the original Xbox and Xbox 360 to complement the backward compatibility plan.
Previously, Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized that the issue of adding backward compatibility to games lies directly with its publishers and franchise owners, while the Xbox team is prepared to take on all the work of porting classic projects to modern platforms.
