Knight Edge Media discovered that at the height of the streaming wars in the early 2020s, Warner Bros. was planning to release a series about the Harry Potter cosmic predators on HBO Max. The project was supposed to follow the adventures of Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black and James Potter during the First Wizarding War in the 1970s.
Sources revealed that by the time of cancellation, the show had a mature writing team in place and a so-called “series bible” in place, with the writers successfully writing three mature episodes. However, after executive David Zaslav took over, development was suddenly scaled back in favor of a massive reboot of the entire story in the form of a series.
Many writers learned of the cancellation from the official announcement of the new remake in 2023, though fans may still see references to Predators in the upcoming extended season of the HBO series.
