Amazon Prime Air delivery service will soon launch in metropolitan areas such as Chicago (Illinois), Syracuse (New York), Cleveland (Ohio), Atlanta (Ga.), and Boise (Idaho); additional settlements will appear on the list by the end of the year. To date, Amazon has launched drone delivery services in 11 locations across the United States; each Prime Air Force base has a service area of approximately 450 square kilometers.2. The service is designed to deliver packages weighing up to 2.3 kilograms quickly; this year, hundreds of thousands of orders have been delivered to customers using drones – in most cases within about an hour of order placement.
Amazon once again recalls the importance of safety measures when operating drones. The company has specifically implemented “Industry-leading collision detection and avoidance system”. It’s an attempt to allay public concerns, given that Amazon drones have crashed into cranes, network cables, apartment buildings and fallen into gardens.
