Experts have discovered that leaked footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 dates back to 2023.

Yesterday’s leaks about the highly anticipated action game Grand Theft Auto 6 had the gaming world excited, but the results may be irrelevant. Document analysis and expert opinion indicate that the footage and film shown was recorded several years ago.

According to Insider Gaming, game videos and basketball mini-games are compressed using the FFmpeg 6.1 codec released in November 2023. Well-known insider NateTheHate also confirmed that the leaked material dates back more than a year and has nothing to do with the upcoming official show.

However, the massive incident has once again drawn attention to Rockstar Games’ security measures ahead of a joint launch event with Netflix later this month.
