In a new article, the developers of the MMORPG Guild Wars 3 talk about the game’s race of Kodans, the wise bears who are among Tyria’s fiercest and most skilled warriors. The first representatives of this race arrived in the Orr region a hundred years before the events of the game, at the summons of their god, Koda the Creator.
Furthermore, we are not talking about simple Kedan, but the chosen people who once refused to connect with the gods and settled on the island of Gentil. Guild Wars 2 players will be familiar with these traitors from the Janthir Wilds expansion.
At first, the chosen Kedan people did not want to restore contact and obey the call of the gods. However, the disaster that broke out in Orr brought about a mythical disaster that ultimately prompted the bears to once again trust Koda, the Creator, and heed his call to serve the world’s natural balance.
These were the first kodan chosen, and they had a kinship with the Guild of the Guardians of Vaal, which had just been formed to protect the magical creatures of Vaal. However, the young guild distrusted the bears for many years and refused to accept them into the ranks. But over time, their union became one of the deepest and most enduring.
As the events of Guild Wars 3 begin, the Kodan people are at a crossroads: the mission of the Guardians of Vale is collapsing, belief in the need to serve is declining, the world is changing rapidly, and the balance of nature is being destroyed under the wheels of progress. However, as a Kodan player, you pledge allegiance to your guild, thereby expressing your own interpretation of the Koda Creator’s will.
During his adventure, the Kodan player will transcend the territories originally inhabited by this race. A whole world awaits him, where tradition intersects with progress, guilds, ideologies, other races and many events. However, his first priority is to protect the gods and the land they call home.
