Nexon has released a major update for looter shooter First Descendant, kicking off the first episode of Season 4. This update brings major storyline developments, a new heroine, giant dungeons, and fresh game modes to the game.
Clash’s new storyline centers on the final showdown with Karel. As adversaries begin a full-scale invasion of Albion, players must not only fight back against the leader of the Dark Legion, but also learn his true motives and previously hidden details of the conflict. The key test for Descendants will be the new giant dungeon – Karel’s Mothership. The size of the site significantly exceeds the scale of conventional infiltration operations. During the run, players will have to fight bosses three times in different arenas. The boss’s attack pattern will change as the battle progresses, and the mechanics of the dungeon itself can be used to gain a tactical advantage. Running from September 3rd to October 15th, the event will unlock a hardcore difficulty level, and completing it once guarantees exclusive cosmetic rewards and unique weapon skins, regardless of your position on the rating scale.
Also joining the ranks of playable characters is Raven, a former guild leader from the slums of Albion who is close to Viessa, Kyle, and Sharen. The girl specializes in high mobility, firearms, and shotguns. One unique feature of the heroine is the complete lack of mana – instead, shields are actively used in combat mechanics. Raven has her own scroll and is accompanied in battle by her pet raven. You can open the heroine without unnecessary grinding: in order to complete the plot of the first episode, you will receive the basic resources needed to create her.
Another major new addition is Trials Mode, a seven-zone replayable challenge inspired by roguelikes and deck-building games. As players move between areas, they select special modifiers that can stack and form unique builds with effects beyond standard gameplay limitations. A system of weekly rotating builds by the developers is also available in this mode, allowing players to try out both ready-made and upgraded descendants.
In addition, a new equipment level – advanced weapons – has appeared in the game. These guns have unique shooting mechanics and visual effects, and their base quality improves with continued farming. The developers also take care of newcomers: users with mastery level 20 and below automatically get access to the new Super Bunny upgrade path, where they can obtain equipment and resources to create builds. There are also some balance changes – Kayle and Kieran’s damage and skill ease of use have been significantly improved.
