Battlestate Games studio head Nikita Buyanov has commented on changes aimed at lowering the barrier to entry for hardcore action shooter Escape from Tarkov. According to the developers, some elements of the game have remained complex over the years, purely for the sake of convention rather than adding depth to the gameplay.
After the game’s successful launch on Steam, the project’s audience expanded significantly to include players unaccustomed to the harsh conditions of the original launcher. In order to help novices get started, the author has added prompts for task items in the interface, and in the near future they plan to introduce GPS navigation at evacuation points so that beginners no longer need to use third-party maps. At the same time, the basic hardcore core of the game remains the same: each raid can still end with a random bullet losing all the loot.
