
Double Fine Productions, the studio behind Brutal Legends, has confirmed it is regaining full control of its intellectual property rights and publishing licenses following its separation from Microsoft.
CEO Tim Schafer said revenue from sales of previously released games now goes directly into the studio’s budget, helping the studio stay afloat after recently laying off about a quarter of its staff.

The team has already started creating new projects. These include support for the multiplayer game Kiln, as well as a Kickstarter campaign for the acclaimed game Amnesia Fortnight 2026: Indie Reboot, which starts on August 31.
