There hasn’t been as much news about Game Pass lately as there used to be. Microsoft is releasing fewer and fewer new products in Game Pass Ultimate, and last week (August 15-22) was no exception. We’ve rounded up all the most interesting news surrounding the service over the past seven days.
New games on Game Pass this week
This week’s subscription was supplemented with the following games:
- encourage (Xbox, PC) – Premium, previously released in Ultimate and PC
- Steam World: Beyond the Mind (Xbox, PC) — Ultimate Edition, PC
- Blue Wings Entropy Effect X (Xbox, PC) – Premium, previously released in Ultimate and PC
- re-plunder (Xbox, PC) – Premium, previously released in Ultimate and PC
- Xingsha Island (Xbox, PC) – Premium, previously released in Ultimate and PC
- Empathy (PC, formerly available on Xbox) – Ultimate
For Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, there’s only one truly new game on this list: the action-platformer Vapor World: Over the Mind, made in the style of Lies of P. The game itself didn’t receive the best reviews upon release.
August Subscription Announcement
This week, the Xbox team announced a list of games that will be added to the subscription by the end of August. Only a few games will be added to the Ultimate tier:
- Air_Knight’s airdrop (Xbox, PC) – August 25 (Game Pass Premium, now available on Ultimate and PC)
- blood dungeon (Xbox, PC) – August 25 (Game Pass Ultimate, PC)
- Resonance: The Legacy of a Plague Tale (Xbox, PC) – August 27 (Game Pass Ultimate, PC)
- young sun team (Xbox, PC) – August 31 (Game Pass Premium, now available on Ultimate and PC)
Barring any surprises at Gamescom, the main new release for Game Pass in August 2026 will be Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
Other Game Pass announcements this week
Also this week, several additional projects for Game Pass subscriptions were announced that were previously unknown to the service:
- shell diver (Xbox, PC) – 1 сентября (Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, PC)
- Runescape: Dragonwild (Xbox, PC) — 15 сентября (Game Pass Ultimate, PC)
- beyond these stars (Xbox, PC) — 15 октября (Game Pass Ultimate, PC)
Note that we already know there are 6 Game Pass games coming in September.
Games to be removed from Game Pass
At the end of August, the following games will be removed from subscriptions on Xbox and PC consoles:
- Another crab treasure
- I am your beast
- neon abyss
- a lonely outpost
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Full Version
There is now a little over a week left to complete or attempt the items listed.
