ASUS brought a number of new products to Gamescom 2026, one of which is the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 router. The vendor is positioning the device as the world’s first Wi-Fi 8-enabled router for gamers.

The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 is a quad-band Wi-Fi 8 (802.11 billion draft) router that comes with eight external antennas, giving the device an impressive appearance. The hardware base is a quad-core processor with a frequency of 2.6 GHz, combined with 256 MB of flash memory and 2 GB of RAM.
Total throughput reaches 25,000 Mbit/s. In the 2.4 GHz band, throughput reaches 1276 Mbps, both 5 GHz bands offer 5764 Mbps, and the 6 GHz band, which supports 320 MHz channels, can deliver up to 11,529 Mbps. For wired connections, there are WAN/LAN and LAN ports with data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps, 1 WAN/LAN port at 2.5 Gbps, 3 LAN ports at 2.5 Gbps, and 1 Gigabit LAN. In addition, there are USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports that support operation in router, AiMesh node, access point, repeater or media bridge mode.
This software component is complemented by Adaptive QoE technology, which provides dynamic bandwidth allocation based on current network conditions. Wi-Fi Insight instantly monitors all frequency bands to detect background interference. The developers also added support for GTNet, a third-party service that routes game traffic along the most reliable path to servers. To protect data, the AirProtection system is used, which also blocks ads and trackers. Guest Network Pro supports up to 5 SSIDs for IoT device management, VPN and parental monitoring functions. The cost of the new product has not yet been announced.
