Development studio Pearl Abyss is working on a comprehensive content and system update for its open-world adventure game Crimson Desert. Version 2.00.00 – also known as the “enhancement” update – is now available as a free download on all platforms. This overhaul makes direct adjustments to the narrative structure of the main story and introduces new gameplay mechanics for developing characters. In addition to visual improvements and additional voice output, the developers are primarily focusing on community feedback on the progression system. If you already own the game, you will automatically receive all new features through the update process for your respective platform.
One of the main innovations concerns the main story and its narrative progression. “Pearl Abyss” has revised the narrative of the main mission in many places, integrated new cutscenes, and expanded the dialogue flow of key scenes.
In addition, new knowledge items, items and memory fragments are also placed in the game, giving you a deeper understanding of the background of each boss opponent. The main mission UI has also been tweaked to provide clearer navigation to events on the continent of Piver.
The talent and progression systems are undergoing a fundamental overhaul in version 2.00.00 with the introduction of the so-called Abyssal Nexus. When you learn a skill using an Abyssal Artifact, the same number of links will be automatically awarded to other playable characters. Additionally, skill trees can now be reset individually for each character, rather than resetting the entire team’s progress at once like before. Upon reset, resources used individually will be fully refunded. Protagonist Cliff gains eight brand new abilities in the same turn, which can be unlocked at some point in the story.
There is now a “New Game+” feature for players who want to start another round of play after completing the main story. This allows you to transfer Abyss Nexus and accumulated in-game currency directly to a new game.
The patch also improves by expanding the language selection: the game now supports voice output in German, French and Spanish. With changes to the talent system, existing skill points will be automatically reset and re-resourced when you first start an update.
