In Google searches, the intermediate address “google.com/goto” comes into play, through which the redirection occurs when going from search results to the website. The measure is said to be aimed at preventing data collection by third-party companies that handle artificial intelligence.

“We have extensive experience implementing technical measures against evolving forms of abuse, and we regularly take steps to protect our services and users.”” a Google representative told the resource Search Engine Roundtable.
Experts in website promotion in search results have noticed that over the past four months, indicators for this parameter have shown a spike in redirects to “google.com/goto” when redirecting to websites.
These links cannot be deciphered, so the company collecting the search data must click on them. Initially, this worked for a small segment of the audience, but the innovation makes things more difficult for companies that abuse Google searches and use bots.
Redirecting through “google.com/goto” doesn’t work for everyone yet, and may appear or disappear even for the same user when opening a search in different browsers. Google did not report the further fate of this innovation.
