A previously unknown nvngx_dlssnr.dll library measuring 158 MB in size (version DLSSNR 310.8.0.0) was discovered in the NBA 2K27 Early Access client, which is the runtime for DLSS 5 neural rendering technology. In just a few hours, modders from the RenoDX community managed to get the new library working within Remedy’s controls.
The experimental modification applies neural filtering to protagonist Jessie’s model and non-playable characters, allowing you to switch between the seven available styles. As stated in all descriptions of this neural filter, the neural render pass is performed at the end of the rendering pipeline (after scaling and tone mapping), but because of this, HDR does not work properly yet. In addition, the technology places a huge load on the hardware – in tests on a GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card at 4K, performance dropped by about 50%.
DLSS 5 neural rendering technology is planned to be officially launched for GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards this fall. In the release version, game developers will have the tools to accurately apply neural rendering to a single scene, material or object.
