Asha Sharma has said several times over the past few months that she plans to develop Xbox products other than games. We already know that there are over 10 movies in the works based on the famous Microsoft game series. These include projects such as Alien, Gears of War, Minecraft, and Down to Earth.
There are reports that Microsoft has begun looking for partners to reach multi-year agreements for movie adaptations of multiple Xbox game series. according to reporter parker Xbox expects to receive more than $300 million from the deal, Matthew Belloni said.
Reporters said that Microsoft is providing packages of more than 10 game series it owns to potential partners. The list includes Halo, Warcraft, Diablo and The Elder Scrolls. The reporter did not reveal the names of any other projects. We are discussing a several-year collaboration within which one partner will be able to work with multiple franchisees at the same time.
Belloni said at least Netflix, Paramount and Universal Pictures have shown interest in the proposal. At the same time, the cost of the contract has “scared away” one potential candidate, because despite the existence of billion-dollar franchises in the “Xbox Package”, the cost of the contract is quite high for the movie industry.
Note that Xbox now uses different models and works with different companies to license game series to them. The Fallout series is being produced in partnership with Amazon, Paramount is producing the Call of Duty movie, and Netflix is developing a Gears of War adaptation.
