Rockstar Games has revealed a ton of details about Grand Thef Auto VI. They demonstrated gameplay in person and let reporters watch the game “behind closed doors,” which allowed them to preview it themselves. Several other GTA 6 developers were also interviewed. Some information has also emerged about the map in Grand Theft Auto VI, and how its size compares to other Rockstar projects.
YouTube Blogger TGGStudio representatives who went to Rockstar for the preview compared the scale of the new project to their previous games. According to the information he provided:
- The overall map of GTA 6 is approximately twice the size of the GTA 5 map, and the game area is three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Sin City itself is roughly twice the size of Los Santos.
- According to development chief Rob Nelson, Vice City and its suburbs are about 11 times larger than Los Santos and its surrounding areas.
Additionally, Rockstar previously described Leonidas as being an entire state inspired by Florida. The secondary city will become its main city. But the world also has beaches, islands, swampy areas, small towns, villages and other areas.

When creating the GTA 6 map, the developers focused less on the area and more on its content. Rob Nelson noted that Sin City’s streets are narrower and more realistic in scale. This should also affect traffic around the city as developers work to make the environment more natural and dense.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026 on Xbox Series X | S and Playstation 5. Apparently it will run on consoles at 30 FPS, with a standard completion time of around 80 hours.
