Enthusiasts continue to experiment with the leaked nvngx_dlssnr.dll library. After a successful patch for the RTX 40 series, modders managed to get the DLSS 5 image neural filter to work on RTX 20 and RTX 30 generation graphics cards, but the results were disastrous for performance.

In tests on a GeForce RTX 3080-equipped system in the co-op shooter Deep Stone Galaxy, enabling DLSS 5 dropped the frame rate from 130+ FPS to an unplayable (for PC boys) 4 frames per second.

Other examples of framerate drops include 7 FPS on an RTX 3080 Ti in Cyberpunk 2077, 1 FPS in KCD2 on an RTX 3070, and the same 1 FPS in Control on an RTX 3050.

Such a strong drop is due to the fact that RTX 20 and RTX 30 graphics cards do not support DLSS 5-compatible FP8 format instructions at all, so they must use emulation.
