After Gamescom, CD Projekt RED released a condensed excerpt from the The Witcher 3 DLC “Song of the Past” exhibition broadcast on their channel. They talked about interesting details about the add-on and showed off over 10 minutes of gameplay. Key points discussed in the video about DLC:
- In “Songs of the Past,” the area is the size of Toussaint. The expansion pack will feature a new, mature open area that can be freely explored. The developers compared its scale to Toussaint from Blood and Wine.
- The behavior of Letten’s residents is more complex. Compared with the original work, the NPCs in “Ballad of the Past” have more detailed daily activities and more diverse dialogues.
- Letten is inspired by the Polish and English countryside. The architecture, landscape and customs of the new areas are modeled after the Polish and English countryside.
- The Garden of Thorns will be one of the darkest locations in the game. In the extra content, Geralt will visit the site of the Garden of Thorns, where the plants are actually associated with the blood of the dead. According to the developers, the place looks both creepy and beautiful.
- The expansion brings new environmental hazards. For example, the Garden of Thorns will be more than just an ordinary forest of monsters. Both its plants and the territory itself are associated with an ancient curse that requires blood.
- Geralt will have a new weapon – the chain. The demonstration showed a new weapon being used against Letten’s new monster, the Swarmer. Chains allow you to attack an enemy’s weak points and bypass his defenses.
