A community of enthusiasts working to bring DLSS 5 support to officially unsupported graphics cards is now trying to implement neural rendering support on GeForce RTX 2000 and RTX 3000 graphics cards. Previously, the technology was available on RTX 4000 graphics cards.

User ShortFuse shared a new version of the nvngx_dlssnr.dll library for older RTX graphics cards. According to him, the latest build “increases the running speed on RTX 20.” However, performance still leaves a lot to be desired, especially on the RTX 2000 series cards.

A member of the RenoDX community on Discord reported that he can run Red Dead Redemption on older graphics cards using DLSS 5, but not Red Dead Redemption 2 yet. There are also reports that Hogwarts Legacy is stuck in a “wait/fail” state when trying to activate neural rendering. Here are some examples of using DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on RTX 30/20 graphics cards. Performance varies, but so far we’re generally not talking about 12-15 frames per second gaming.

It is reported that in one of the tests, GTA V worked for about 10 seconds with the neural rendering function enabled. After that, the graphics card stops transmitting signals to the monitor. Other users have reported similar behavior when loading ReShade-based implementations, including crashes, signal drops, and increased graphics card fan speeds.

ShortFuse reports that development of the RTX 20 and RTX 30 GPUs has entered optimization mode, with analysis suites being sent to testers. With their help, statistics are collected during program execution to find bottlenecks.

Nvidia has yet to announce which graphics architectures will receive official support for DLSS 5, specifically neural rendering technology. The company plans to release DLSS 5 this fall.
