playground games Officially revealed the system requirements for the PC version of the new game fableand judging from the released features, the developers have tried to make the game quite scalable. Although the open world is ambitious, with tons of NPCs, interactive buildings, and numerous simulation systems, you don’t need a modern, high-end computer to run the RPG.

Minimum configuration Developers refer to the combination of the processor with an RTX 2060, RTX 5050, Radeon RX 6600, or Intel Arc A580 as the Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i7-6850K. In this configuration, the game is designed to run at 1080p and approximately 30 frames per second. You will need 12 GB RAM and a graphics card with 6 GB VRAM.

For 1440p (30 FPS) or 1200p (60 FPS) More powerful hardware is recommended – such as RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 5060, RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT. To achieve a stable 60 FPS at 1440p, you need an RTX 5070 or RTX 3080 Ti, while for 4K at 60 FPS at max settings, the developers specify an RTX 5080 or RTX 4080.

Furthermore, even the most demanding configuration only requires 16 GB of RAM. But you will need more free space: installing Fable will require about 135 GB of space on the SSD.

As of now, Playground Games has not clarified whether image scaling technology is taken into account in the above indicators. We only know that the PC version supports Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, so the actual requirements to achieve the specified frame rate may be lower.

The smallest features look particularly interesting. The RTX 2060 is no longer called a modern graphics card, but Playground is offering it as one of the options for running Fable. This may indicate that the project is quite scalable. Granted, the 30 FPS minimum benchmark and some recommended specs may not appeal to all PC users.

Accurate conclusions about performance can only be drawn after independent testing. It’s unclear whether these resolutions are native or achieved through upscaling.

Story campaign takes approximately 15-20 hours

Meanwhile, new details about Fable’s duration have also been revealed. According to deputy game director Will Kennedy, the main storyline will take approximately 15-20 hours to complete.

This is a pretty important metric for the series. The main campaign in the first few parts is shorter: the original fable It took about 12.5 hours. Fable 2 – about 13 hours, and Fable 3 – Approximately 13.5 hours.

Moreover, 15-20 hours is only part of the content of a new game. According to Kennedy, side missions and other extra activities will likely take about the same amount of time. Since Fable is a full-fledged open-world RPG, your final playtime will depend heavily on the player’s personal style.

In Albion, you’re no longer limited to story missions. There are over 1000 handcrafted NPCs in the world, each with their own personality and daily life. You can interact with them, build relationships, conflict, hire them and even marry them. Additionally, players will be allowed to visit various buildings, purchase real estate, and engage in other activities.

Moral systems are of particular interest. If it did change things significantly, Fable with both positive and negative characters could be noticeably different and actually increase replayability.

Therefore, it doesn’t seem like Playground Games is trying to make Fable just another 100-hour RPG based solely on the massive main campaign. Instead, the developers have delivered a relatively tight storyline surrounded by plenty of side content and opportunities to explore Albion independently.

After being delayed in 2026, Fable will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC on February 23, 2027. This will be the series’ first full return after a multi-year hiatus, so the main question now isn’t the game’s length or PC requirements, but the quality of the open world itself, the plot and how far Playground Games will be able to deliver on the promised systems.
