Gamescom, the world’s largest games show, has attracted almost record numbers of visitors in recent days. The event took place in Cologne from Wednesday to Sunday and attracted 368,000 people. That’s 11,000 more visitors than in 2025, although still slightly below the record of 373,000 visitors set in 2019, the year before the pandemic.
The organization was pleased with the turnout. “This solidifies Gamescom’s position as the biggest event in the gaming industry,” said Filix Falk, director of the Games Industry Association.
Gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry that’s always growing. More and more people use smartphones, game consoles or PCs to play games.
One of the speakers at this year’s Gamescom was German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who highlighted the industry’s growing prestige. Visitors can try out new games at the show. Sometimes there are long queues.
