Resonance: A Plague Tale: Legacy has become the most successful Plague Tale game, based on peak online play on Steam and player and critic ratings. However, there is currently no information on the financial performance of the project. However, Asobo Studios has not ruled out the possibility of continuing to develop the series even before its release.
The Asobo Games team expressed their interest in creating new parts of A Plague Tale in a modern setting. Developers said this when interviewed Technology Radar During Gamescom and even before the release of Resonance.
When asked about a possible modern-day setting, lead writer Carol Ann Banuels answered in the affirmative. According to her, the choice was interesting for the studio. Actress Ana Demetriou, who plays Sofia in Vibes, added that fans often ask her about similar projects. Banuels specifically noted that the A Plague Tale series was heavily influenced by Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us:
she [The Last of Us] A great source of inspiration for us. So it would be nice if the events took place in modern times.
The modern setting will also provide an opportunity to reveal a major component of the universe – the Curse of Makur – in new ways. Demetrio believes this concept is perfectly suited to the modern world.
It would be great if it could be integrated into a modern setting. I’m personally interested to see what it will look like.
However, Asobo Games has yet to announce any official development plans for the A Plague Tale series.
