Nearly 17 years after the launch of Double Fine Productions’ action-adventure game (Heroes 2, Broken Age), which is full of strategy elements and the spirit of heavy metal brutality, fans are hopeful, albeit illusory, for a sequel.

Let’s remember that after splitting from Xbox last summer, Double Fine decided to take its relatively regular game Amnesia Fortnight to the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, a platform the studio has seen success with in the past.
The program is called “Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot” and invites investors to influence which of 26 potential gaps (see. playlist Posted on YouTube by Double Fine staff) will become a real game.
As of press time, organizers of the 2026 Amnesia Fortnight Indie Reboot have raised $294,000 of the $400,000 needed. With 29 days left until the end of the campaign, Double Fine has set a course for an ambitious additional goal.
According to the description of the Amnesia Fortnight 2026 Indie Reboot, Double Fine will produce Brutal Legend 2 if the crowdfunding campaign reaches $100 million: “Yes, justice [сделаем]».
Of course, the chances of Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot attracting more than $100 million are negligible and often seem unthinkable. So why is Double Fine teasing fans with a sequel to a beloved game from 16 years ago?
Double Fine founder Tim Schafer said crowdfunding will help the studio stay afloat while it seeks funding for major projects. Cruel Legend 2 is probably just one of them.
