ChatGPT’s advertising test began in the United States in February this year, and competitor Anthropic immediately criticized OpenAI’s move. Ads are shown to ChatGPT users who either don’t pay to access the chatbot at all or are limited to Go rates. In fact, most of ChatGPT’s more than 1 billion active users who visit the chatbot every week will see these ads. OpenAI said it clearly labels ads and does not customize the chatbot’s responses based on advertisers’ interests.
