According to Willis, the road to Revelation is not an easy one. Production comes with a lot of processing. For many employees, even industry veterans, this period is the worst of their entire careers.
“There were months when I was working at least 12 hours a day, and a few times it was 17 hours. It was tough. Most of the game was finished in three or four months.”Willis recalled. dialogue With Kiwi Talkz.

Willis emphasized that overtime is not a direct order from management, but the result of a large amount of work that must be completed within a certain period of time (usually not very long).
“What do you do when you’re doing a 60-hour work week? It’s okay to be careless, but are you willing to sign up for something like this? It’s like the level of expectations that fans have for the game and the expectations that you have for yourself.”Willis shared.

The release of Revelations was supposed to be a victory for id Software, but Xbox celebrated the premiere with massive layoffs. 136 people were laid off, including Willis – reducing the staff to Doom (2016)-era levels.
“You spent so much energy and time of your life sacrificing all kinds of things to release something and they fire you the day before it’s released. Just crazy.”“Willis concluded.
