After weeks of testing, Mozilla has officially launched ad blocking functionality in the Firefox browser for Apple iOS. Browsers will be able to block most ads and trackers until they are uninstalled – websites will consume less traffic and run faster.

To block ads in Firefox for iOS, Mozilla developers used built-in Apple WebKit Content Blocker technology and EasyList filters, so no additional extensions were needed. This feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled globally through browser settings or locally through the Quick Access Site menu.
Firefox for iOS will not be able to block all ads – only ads that appear directly on the site and in search results across platforms will remain. Resource ads and other promotional content that Firefox displays when you open a new tab will also remain.
Firefox for iOS is only now getting ad blocking, but that’s not news to the platform—the built-in blocker is already running in Brave, Vivaldi, and Opera browsers on Apple’s mobile devices.
