Microsoft will improve Windows 11 security at the expense of gaming performance

In October, with the next update, Microsoft will begin rolling out the Memory Integrity Protection feature in Windows 11 to more devices. Core-level security features will prevent malicious code or drivers from running, but may reduce game performance.

If it is not already enabled, these updates will enable additional protection through virtualization-based security (VBS), demonstrating our commitment to ensuring Windows security by default and at the architectural level.”“”, Microsoft project manager Peter Waxman said of this innovation.

Windows 11’s Memory Integrity feature will allow you to run only trusted code and drivers in Kernel Mode, but it can slow down game performance on some computers. On older processors, the impact may be noticeable, but on newer processors, the impact may be smaller. For users who previously disabled this feature, it will not be enabled after the update. If this security feature significantly reduces game performance, Microsoft recommends disabling it before a gaming session and then re-enabling it.
