Shortly before Gamescom, CD Projekt RED announced plans to release “The Witcher 4” in 2028. At the same time, company executives have repeatedly emphasized that this is an internal release window, but it may still be moved if production requires more time.
The Witcher 4 is currently in active development, but CD Projekt RED isn’t ready to reveal specific internal production stages just yet. Studio CEO Michal Nowakowski spoke about this during a recent meeting with investors.
He said a mature production means the team already has a pretty good understanding of the type of project they are creating, including its key elements. Now, developers are busy populating the world with content and then polishing off individual components. He noted that there are a number of technical milestones and milestones happening internally at CD Projekt RED, but the company has no plans to reveal them all publicly.
Each phase gives us the opportunity to understand where we are, where we are in development, if anything is holding us back, and if additional iterations are needed.

Let us remind you that the game is made on Unreal Engine 5 and the studio has previously talked about plans to release 3 new parts of The Witcher game within 6 years. If The Witcher 4 is released in 2028, the final part of the new trilogy should be released in 2034. However, there are currently no plans for DLC for The Witcher 4.
