Euro Truck Simulator 2 has entered open beta, updated to 1.61. The developers added a convenient map exploration system, completely redesigned the trailers used to transport livestock, and began preparing the world for the arrival of passenger transportation.
The main new product is proximity exploration. When enabled, the feature automatically opens up a small portion of the map around the truck, allowing for the coveted 100% effect without having to lick every centimeter of the road. Hidden routes are not fully revealed: next to the secret path, only the first part is visible and you have to find the rest of the path yourself.
Livestock trailers have all-new models inspired by modern European design. Owners can choose between two chassis: aluminum or paintable bodywork and a variety of accessories. At the same time, an update to the Schwarzmüller trailer package began – with the low bed trailer being the first to be redesigned.
For the release of the Coaches DLC, the developers also redesigned the bus infrastructure. A new bus station appeared in Nuremberg, and stations in Karlsruhe, Aarhus and Thessaloniki were converted into bus stations. The changes also affect border checkpoints, navigation and certain road sections. The MFD and game menu in version 1.61 have been decided to postpone further development.
