Rockstar Games wanted to combine two different concepts of driving a car in GTA 6. Studio co-director Rob Nelson said the developers retained some of the “heavy” feel of the cars in GTA 4 but increased the accessibility and responsiveness of GTA 5.
The mock-up was created entirely from scratch for the new generation of consoles. Rockstar can now fine-tune the performance of transmissions, tires, suspension and steering systems, which will make cars behave in even more detail.
Players have yet to verify the developers’ promises – neither journalists nor regular users have yet gained access to the GTA 6 version. So how successful this balance between realism and arcade will be will only be clear after launch.
GTA 6 will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series on November 19th.
