Huawei today launched a new version of its mobile operating system HarmonyOS 7. Many spatial and three-dimensional effects appear in the interface of the new operating system. New tools for building and exploring 3D models have been added. New capabilities include cloud and embedded AI models, Level 4 memory, application skills, agent-based loops, cross-device communication and updated security protocols.

Harmony OS 7 offers a significantly redesigned interface that emphasizes spatial effects. Immersive light sensing creates trails of light and shadow as icons move, while taps, taps, drags and swipes receive tactile and visual feedback. 3D lock screen adds depth effect to all elements. The appearance of space wallpaper can provide changing effects when sliding.
Harmony OS 7 introduces support for two-finger swiping and tilting the screen to explore 3D environments. Tools for creating and exploring 3D models have also been added, including Remy for converting drone videos into 3D maps, V2Fun for creating 3D models from a single photo, Dianping for virtual shopping tours, and Huawei 3DGS for 3D product modeling.
Harmony Intelligence brings operating systems, AI and applications together using cloud and embedded AI models, four-tier memory, application skills, system capabilities, agent loops, cross-device communication and updated security protocols.
The home screen of Celia Voice Assistant has been redesigned with a personalized Home tab and sidebar for Celia Memory and Celia Claw. The navigation bar turns copied passwords, codes, addresses and cloud service links into one-click app actions and translates foreign language documents.
The new operating system has a built-in job search assistant that can optimize resumes according to job requirements, generate interview questions, refine answers, and register interview invitations with time, location, and memos.
Parental controls monitor your child’s eye strain and screen time, and voice commands let you schedule app closures. Celia Claw manages supported smart home devices and scenes, including air conditioners, robot vacuums, and security cameras.
Other system agents cover child-rearing tasks, daily household chores like feeding pets and vacuuming, and booking local services via automated phone calls. Many Huawei apps built-in “Ready to use right out of the box”Gain the power of AI-based agents to:
- Petal Map: Find locations and establish directions based on dialogue prompts.
- Huawei Browser: Select relevant information and key points for detailed analysis.
- Huawei Music: Makes recommendations based on listeners’ preferences and builds playlists based on short suggestions.
- Huawei Video: Build targeted watchlists on various streaming networks and answer story-related questions instantly.
- Huawei Reading: Create book lists, chapter outlines, contextual questions and answers, and interactive reading discussions.
- Huawei Theme: Filter styles and generate UI themes and font styles.
The proprietary Ark Engine uses artificial intelligence models to reallocate resources from reactive to proactive delivery. According to Huawei, the overall performance of the device is increased by up to 15%, the battery life is extended by 36 minutes, the performance of high-frequency applications is increased by 22%, and the switching speed between applications is increased by 25%. Performance mode provides up to 25% faster performance than HarmonyOS 6.
Super Space Memory adds 3GB of available RAM compared to HarmonyOS 6, allowing more apps to stay active in the background. Huawei also claims this feature can free up additional free space:
- For 1 TB hard drive: up to 109 GB;
- For 512 GB drives: up to 51 GB;
- For 256 GB drives: up to 22 GB.
HarmonyOS 7 gets AI-based game optimization tools. AI super resolution provides 1.5 times clearer images than HarmonyOS 6. Smart HDR optimizes light and shadow details in sunsets, neon cities, underwater tunnels and night scenes. Ark’s scheduling engine and intelligent frame stabilization feature predict workloads and dynamically allocate resources, improving frame rate stability for long sessions by 40%.
HarmonyOS Star Shield adds AI-based system protection to prevent scams in calls, messages, apps, scams targeting family members, AI-generated scripts, and malicious links. Star Shield features include:
- Voice modification detection: Instantly analyze calls and alert you to synthesized or modified voices.
- Foreign Call Forward Detection: Use chip-level detection to identify domestic calls from overseas scammers and block unknown numbers without proper flagging.
- Risk web page detection: Analyze web page content for fraudulent intent, including URL changes.
- Prevent fraud with scripts: Compare the risks of different applications, such as cold calling, suspicious web pages, and payment transfers.
- Risky QR code detection: Identify suspicious QR codes on web pages, flyers and physical promotional materials, and destroy risky links.
Huawei said HarmonyOS 7 has received Level 5 security certification to prevent telecom fraud on the mobile operating system platform.
Hongmeng OS 7 significantly improves user privacy protection. Cloud processing using artificial intelligence provides the same level of security as on-device processing, and isolated cloud computing helps prevent data leakage. The data is processed only for the requested task and is deleted immediately after use and is not stored permanently.
HarmonyOS 7 introduces the Tap-to-Transfer tool for exchanging data between devices:
- Share data among multiple users: Transfer photos and videos to multiple devices with one click.
- Encrypted sharing: Simply flip the on-screen card to encrypt and transfer sensitive files.
- Game sharing: Transfer game installation packages without using mobile data or additional downloads.
- Paste using pointer: Touch a specific point on the canvas to paste the media file.
- Remote Direct Transfer: Send photos, videos and files in original quality, regardless of distance or format.
The new operating system also adds Intimate Circle, which brings together status updates, health metrics and daily activities from family and friends in one place.
The digital asset inheritance function preserves data such as photo libraries and notes. Designated recipients can access them through real-name multi-factor authentication using cloud storage security.
Text Call offers instant speech-to-text and text-to-speech during a call, as well as AI-driven speech correction and speech synthesis for people with speech impairments.
The first public beta of HarmonyOS 7 will be released today on supported smart TVs and screens, foldable smartphones, tablets, laptops, standard smartphones and smart watches. Users can check for updates themselves in “Settings” > “System and Updates” > “Software Updates”. A list of supported devices is given below.
