Crytek has made a series of unexpected layoffs, affecting employees at its headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, and its Turkish branch in Istanbul. According to insiders, at least 30 people have been fired, and the entire quality control (QA) team in Istanbul has been completely disbanded.
Affected employees were informed of management’s decision in early September, with the layoffs themselves described as unexpected. Quality assurance, publishing and social media departments were the first to be affected. Crytek representatives have yet to officially comment on the reasons for the restructuring and the exact number of professionals who have lost their jobs.
