The developers of Going Medieval talked about new events that should liven up the game world and add more unexpected situations. Settlers would encounter not only raiders and traders, but also people who might need help or bring useful information.
One such event is the appearance of a group of refugees. Exhausted and hungry travelers will be able to seek shelter, and players will decide what to do with them: feed them, provide them with a place to sleep, and allow them to recover. In some cases, refugees are chased by wolves – and among those arriving there are injured who can be treated at their own clinics. In this case, the predator can continue the chase, forcing the settler to protect the guest.
Not all encounters involve danger. Friendly NPCs will be able to independently come to settlements, hand over useful gifts, and then leave without asking for anything in return. However, refusing kindness can have consequences: if a peaceful guest is attacked, their faction may not allow this behavior to go unanswered.
Finally, the developers are experimenting with events that would allow you to ambush someone else’s caravan. Players will be able to obtain information about the shipment’s route, emergence time, protection and approximate value, and then decide whether to use this information. This way the authors hope to give players more freedom to decide the nature of their settlements – from hospitable to pragmatic to downright brutal.
