To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, a special edition is available for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo demonstrated this in detail at today’s Direct conference.
The successful Legend of Zelda series is celebrating its 40th anniversary—and of course, in a very special way. Not only will Nintendo release a remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in November, which is considered one of the best games in the series, but it also plans to release special hardware.
It has now been announced that a special edition of the current Nintendo Switch 2 with a special Zelda skin will be released on October 29, 2026. The console variant was released a week before the remaster.
Visually, the color scheme is based on the main colors of the collection, namely black, gold and green. Nintendo hopes to commemorate Link and the Triforce of Courage. The console and associated Pro controllers have triangle decorations surrounding the Triforce symbol.
The console and Pro Controllers are sold separately, but anyone who buys the console can use a set of matching Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo has also released a special box that will protect the console if you want to transport it.
It is not yet available for pre-order through the official Nintendo store. Exact pricing for the special edition is unknown.
