At Gamescom 2026, developers at ArenaNet Studios shared details of Guild Wars 3’s combat system, a key element of which will be deep team coordination. In the upcoming MMORPG project, the focus is on tactical interaction between teams of up to 20 people, where appropriate role distribution (including the return of the classic “Holy Trinity” in a more flexible form) and skill combinations directly affect the outcome of the battle.
The gameplay snippets shown in the demo showcase a variety of co-op mechanics: Players can set up attack chains (e.g., pulling enemies to cliffs or knocking down allies with a shield), use momentum mechanics to deal extra damage near walls, and use elemental weapon buffs to damage the environment (e.g., burning spider webs).
This tactical maneuver requires not only real-time coordination, but also coordination during the construction phase, rewarding teamwork with epic victories.
