There are about 2 months until the release of Grand Theft Auto VI – the game will be released on November 19, 2026 on Xbox Series X | S and Playstation 5. Developers at Rockstar continue to share details following a full gameplay demo.
Rockstar’s Rob Nelson revealed some new details to Italian YouTuber MikeShowSha. user Reddit Going by the moniker The_Painter64, he highlighted the most interesting parts of it, which were not mentioned in other previews. Here are the major new things known in GTA 6.
Game Mechanics and Simulation
- The characters live their own lives. When the player isn’t controlling Jason or Lucia, the second character isn’t just static in one place. According to the developers, the hero goes about his or her daily affairs and acts according to his daily routine.
- Real life systems. Some players criticize GTA 6 for its realism, while others feel, conversely, that the additional simulation would help make the game better. Rob Nelson says food, sleep and training are interconnected. Lack of sleep can affect your appearance (like dark circles under your eyes), and to stay in shape, you’ll need to hit the gym regularly. The protagonist has parameters – fat percentage and sleep quality. These are personal characteristics that may affect gameplay.
- Manage personal transportation. When you order a vehicle, the NPC delivers it to your door, then he rides off on his electric scooter. In the preview version, 3 private vehicle slots are provided, and stolen vehicles can be registered as their own vehicles.
Interact with the world and NPCs
- National People’s Congress reaction. Surrounding characters will react differently to the hero depending on whether he is armed or not. Some may try to wrench the weapon out of their hands, others may run away out of fear.
- Interaction with accessories. If he drops glasses or a hat during a battle with an NPC, the player can pick them up and put them on the character.
- Buy and read. There are newspapers and magazines in the store that you can pick up, open and leaf through in person.
- Interaction with animals. Players will be able to study the animal world, such as encountering specific breeds of dogs. If he has treats on him, then you can feed them.
Police and crime
- Dynamic pursuit. Police car accidents are not scripted but calculated by the physics engine. Depending on the player’s actions, the police car may skid, lose control, or roll over.
- Two-level search system. Police raids consist of two areas: interior (where players are actively searched) and exterior (less intense). To hide, simply leaving the active search area is not enough.
- money laundering. Stolen money is considered “dirty money” and cannot be used directly. To deposit it into your account, you need to deposit and withdraw money from the money laundering business.
- Consequences of arrest or death. Following the standard GTA scheme, if the hero dies, he will respawn in the hospital, and if he is arrested, he will respawn near the police station. The arrest resulted in monetary damages and the incidental discovery of weapons being confiscated, but the personally customized weapon remained in the vehicle.
Plots, Relationships, and “Crime Files”
- Decisions and consequences. The plot contains moments where the player needs to make choices that affect future events. This applies to both the crime situation and the relationship between the protagonists.
- Heroic relationship. The romance between Jason and Lucy is optional. They may break up but remain partners in crime. Moreover, the development of their relationship depends on the player’s choices in dialogue and actions.
- Crime Profile. The system evaluates not only the facts of the crime, but also the specific manner in which the player committed the crime. For example, stealing a car carefully can reduce the “violation score” of theft by breaking the glass. Nelson said the system does not impose a “correct” style of play but simply reflects the players’ approach.
Combat system and features
- Differences in fighting styles. Jason and Lucia fight differently. Lucia prefers kickboxing and mixed martial arts, while Jason is a street fighter.
- Focus mode. Not only can it slow down time and highlight weak points, but it can also be used as a reconnaissance tool. For example, it tells you the location of interactive objects (explosives, doors) and police officers.
- Give orders to AI partners. During a chase or robbery, you can issue contextual commands to your partner. For example, if you are in a gunfight, order him to drive faster.
- A reflection of the body’s moment. Blows, falls, and the use of stun guns will leave visible marks on your character’s body – scrapes and cuts. Additionally, NPCs may have different physical training, which is why, for example, a fat cop may run out of energy faster during a chase than a fit cop.
