The story of the Pixel tablet is over – Google ultimately canceled the project and removed the product page from the company’s store entirely. According to unofficial sources, the company was originally planning to release a new version of the device, but later abandoned the plan. However, tablet support continues.

Google released the Pixel tablet in 2023, a hybrid between a regular Android tablet and a Nest Hub smart display. The device received mixed reactions and remains the only tablet in Google’s lineup. Support for the device and the release of updates will continue until 2028, but it has disappeared from the official Google Store. Attempting to access the product page via a direct link results in a redirect to the homepage, and there is no mention of the tablet in the Google Store, except for some accessories for sale.
Actual sales of Pixel tablets stopped at the end of August, but the product page was still available with an “out of stock” status until about a week ago. Google never released a successor to the tablet. Rumor has it that development of a significantly improved version was canceled due to concerns about profitability. The second-generation device was supposed to be released in 2025 and the third-generation device in 2027, but the project has been suspended. Often, after Google discontinues direct sales, third-party sellers still have the product in stock, but they can’t find the Pixel tablet — and the tablet isn’t available on Amazon either.
Let’s remember that Google was very active in producing tablets in the early 2010s, but then paused. Its first tablet was the highly successful Google Nexus 7 released in 2012. Thereafter, the company released new models regularly until 2015, after which the company took a break until 2018. The company then completely lost track of its direction for five years until it released the Pixel tablet in 2023. Now his time is over.
