The saga of confrontation between the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) and Rockstar Games over the scandal that began last autumn and saw the firing of three dozen GTA VI developers has reached its final stages.

Let us recall that at the end of October 2025, Rockstar laid off 34 employees in its UK (31) and Canadian (3) offices responsible for distributing and discussing on public platforms specific features of future and as-yet-unannounced studio games.
The IWGB accused Rockstar of ruthless anti-union behavior – all of those fired took to Discord to discuss working conditions and form a union. The studio fundamentally disagrees with this position.

The final hearing in IWGB v Rockstar begins today, September 10, at the Glasgow Employment Tribunal. The workers wanted reinstatement and, if refused, compensation for unfair dismissal.
The IWGB intends to prove that the affected Rockstar employees were unlawfully blacklisted and harassed for their union activities, and that the termination process itself was unlawful.

“Rockstar Games’ position has remained clear and unchanged during this period.<...>We reject these allegations and will vigorously defend our position in court. “read Rockstar’s statement on the portal IGN.
The IWGB’s hearing in the case against Rockstar will continue until October 16th – “GTA VI” will be released on November 19th on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Last month, the studio gave a 27-minute gameplay demo of the game.
