Xbox and Kojima Productions declareexpand joint game production cooperation. The two companies have agreed to publish Hideo Kojima’s new spy thriller game PHYSINT. The project was announced in 2024, along with the announcement that it was created with the support of Playstation. But it’s now known that Sony decided to stop funding the game, and Kojima Productions has been looking for a new partner for months since.
According to Kojima, in mid-June, Kojima Productions unexpectedly received a notification that Playstation intended to shut down PHYSINT. The studio then began talks with potential partners, which continued throughout the summer. Playstation did not reveal the reason for abandoning the game, but noted that the decision was not an easy one for the company.
Now, the new partner will be Xbox, which has teamed up with Kojima Productions to create the OD project. Kojima stated that production on PHYSINT will continue as the game is very important to him personally and to the studio.

PHYSINT aims to bring Kojima back to the espionage action genre. The famed game designer hasn’t been involved in a project like this since Metal Gear Solid V. Currently, the game’s gameplay has not been shown, and there is no information about its production stage. But in the summer of 2026, data shows that studios have begun recording motion capture.
