Squadron 42’s single-player story campaign in the Star Citizen universe has been in development for over 12 years and is finally ready to appear in front of its first audiences outside the offices of Cloud Imperium Games. According to several content producers and insiders, they have received invitations to a three-day private preview event, which will take place in Manchester from October 9th to 11th.
Unlike the usual stage vertical cuts and festival trailers, this time the developers are promising guests a chance to experience real live gameplay. The program includes studio visits, interactions with key writing teams, and indie game sessions. Granted, the terms of the NDA will be tough – bloggers will be allowed to post their own impressions of gameplay, but demonstrations of video material will still be strictly prohibited, except for footage pre-approved by the studio.
Rumors about the show’s upcoming release coincide with another high-profile leak – a Squadron 42 achievement list popped up in the Steam database, hinting that the project may be released outside of the RSI launcher. The official event release window recently moved to 2027, but the actual release into the hands of bloggers suggests the game is finally nearing completion.
