Chinese author Liu Cixin’s best-selling novel “The Wandering Earth” will be adapted into a game Wandering Earth: The Last Full Moon. The project is being developed by studio Surgical Scalpels (which previously made the sci-fi shooter Boundary) in partnership with publisher Starry Dome, which owns the rights to the series.
Wandering Earth: The Last Full Moon will be a story-driven shooter about humanity’s global plan to stop Earth and transport it to the Alpha Centauri star system. But first, the moon must be moved out of the planet’s orbit, and the game is dedicated to these events, since not everyone likes this plan.
Players will play the role of an engineer who is sent to the moon. At some point, the expedition found itself caught up in attacks and intrigues, and the rivalry between the two ideological camps intensified once again.

The team won’t replace gunplay with different capabilities: add-ons such as robotic arms, exoskeletons and space transport should expand the possibilities for interacting with the environment rather than become replacements for weapons.
One of the unusual mechanics is the aiming system, which takes into account the character’s position, gravity and movement. In low or zero gravity environments, where players must consider inertia and speed, the crosshair will be dynamically linked to the character rather than fixed to the center of the screen.
Developers are also betting on large structures, including giant lunar engines, and aim to showcase them as objects that humans can actually build in the future. However, the project is in the early stages of development: a release date, target platforms and other details have yet to be announced. It is understood that the developers are focusing on PCs and modern consoles. There are currently no plans for a multiplayer mode.
