After years of forcing Steam users to install their own launcher (first Uplay, then Ubisoft Connect) to play their products, French publisher Ubisoft has reached a compromise with gamers.

As pointed out by users RedditUbisoft has announced a new service on Steam’s Metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown community page that will no longer require Ubisoft Connect on Valve’s website.
The tool, called Ubisoft Connect Services, should make it easier to launch Ubisoft games on Steam, offering progress transfer, cross-play, security, challenges, and Ubisoft Connect rewards without having to install/launch a launcher.

The first game to support Ubisoft Connect service is “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown”. As time goes on and grows, they plan to integrate the service into other publishing projects on the site.

Gamers on Reddit rejoiced that Steam was victorious again without any effort from Valve, and were happy that Ubisoft backed down. “Imagine how much they have to lose to admit that.”– famous Martin Baird.
Ubisoft will continue to improve the user experience on Steam after the service resumes in winter 2022. Previously, the company implemented Steam achievements in games on the site.
