The comic book movie Avengers: Judgment Day (oh, sorry, Doctor Doom) has set a record, grossing over $50 million in domestic previews in the three months before its official release on December 18. Disney Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston noted the overwhelming interest.
Over 70% of tickets sold were from new premium formats Infinite visiondesigned for the biggest, brightest screens. The blockbuster is directed by the Russo brothers, who bring together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the original X-Men in a storyline where they will have to face Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
