Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier shared Details of the breakdown in the relationship between PlayStation and Kojima Productions, the studio developing next-generation espionage action game Physint (codename).

Let’s remember that analysts at Kantan Games and Alinea Analytics admitted that PlayStation refused to support Physint due to weak sales of the express action game Death Stranding 2: The Beach compared to the original Death Stranding.
According to Schreier, neither Death Stranding nor Death Stranding 2: Beach were huge hits on PlayStation, where both games were published. These projects did not meet the company’s financial hopes.
According to Alinea’s calculations, “Death Stranding 2” has sold 2.5 million copies (Image source: PlayStation)
According to Schreier’s sources, Physint’s development isn’t progressing as quickly or efficiently as PlayStation would have liked. Kojima Productions often misses deadlines but expects to finish “Significantly above and beyond” Budget.
Also, PlayStation doesn’t want to invest “Hundreds of millions of dollars” Enter another game (see Death Stranding) that won’t be completely exclusive to its console – the rights to Physint belong to Kojima Productions.

Meanwhile, US platform holder Xbox, which will release Physint instead of PlayStation, considers the game a wise investment and plans to release it on PC and Xbox consoles.
According to Schreier, the deal includes the film rights (movie, TV series) to two future Kojima Productions games, Physint, and the experimental horror game OD, which has been produced in partnership with Xbox.
