At the same time, contrary to global experience, the consumer sector has become the driving force for 5G, while in Russia the main demand will be generated by industrial companies: analysts believe that corporate customers may account for more than 80% of commercial revenue for operators in this sector. Experts say mining companies (accounting for about 40% of demand) and companies in the oil and gas industry (20-25%) show the greatest interest in the technology.
Trend 1: Industrial 5G is the main driving force of the market
Now the Russian corporate sector can move from 5G pilot programs to large-scale implementation. According to Beeline Business, scenarios such as driverless dump trucks in quarries, digital crawlers in refineries, oil field telemetry and port dispatching have proven economics and a payback period of 2-3 years.
Trend #2: Technology neutrality accelerates innovation
Regulators follow the principle of technology neutrality in frequency allocation in the 4.6-4.9 GHz range for 5G networks, allowing operators to deploy new generation networks. This reduces customer start-up costs and enables a phased start-up project – from software upgrades of existing equipment to deployment of private 5G networks. According to Beeline Business predictions, up to 85% of enterprise projects in 2027 can be implemented through this method.
Trend three: Russian suppliers are entering the series
Under new regulatory conditions, production breakthroughs are taking shape. Leading domestic manufacturers – YADRO, Irtea, Telkor, Iskra Technologies JSC, STC Proteus – are churning out 5G equipment. By 2029, the industry plans to build 2,000-3,000 base stations every year, and by 2035, more than 60,000 base stations will be installed across the country. This will create a multiplier effect for related industries such as electronics, software, and system integration.
Trend 4: Smart cities and the public sector – new horizons
The rollout of 5G drives the development of smart cities, security solutions, high-tech transportation infrastructure and telemedicine.
