Official specs on Apple’s website confirm a trend that users noticed immediately after launch: even paper booklets and documents have completely disappeared from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max boxes. Now, standard packaging only includes the smartphone itself and a meter-long USB-C charging cable (plus a traditional paper clip – but only for those regional versions that still have a physical slot for the SIM card).
For comparison: Just a few years ago, buyers found EarPods, a power supply, stickers and a full set of instructions in the box. The company attributes its ongoing reduction in packaging to environmental concerns and a desire to reduce its carbon footprint through tighter logistics. However, this ascetic gift package also came with unpleasant news in the wallet: due to the global semiconductor memory crisis and rising parts costs, the base price of the iPhone 18 Pro series has increased by $200 compared with the previous generation.
